CDAIDE STORIES

This summer, I had a restaurant employee who was homeless with a small child. I’ve been stuck in my car before, and as a parent I can’t imagine doing that with a child. When I saw his situation, I immediately thought of how many people CDAIDE has helped and I reached out.

I knew about CDAIDE through First Presbyterian Church. It was something I had never thought about before but it was something I could support.

I volunteered to help CDAIDE immediately after I attended a fundraiser at the Resort in February. I was so taken with the generosity of people in our community to help those with seasonal jobs in their time of need. Wow! Sign me up!

Listening to people’s stories and helping them identify their strengths and areas that CDAIDE can support in has been part of my role.

Our church family generously embraced the owners of a local food truck as the husband struggled with cancer, and we were able to offer not only financial, but also emotional support.

I was asked to help put together a silent auction for the first big fundraiser that CDAIDE held in 2018.

I think more than anything, my involvement with CDAIDE has opened my eyes to the special people who wait on my table in a restaurant, take my counter order, make my coffee, or pour me a beer.

When I realized what a difference CDAIDE could make in the lives of the myriad of people who are the service workers in a resort community, I was delighted to be asked to participate in organizing an event.
